Yacht charter and boat rental in Vernazza. Mini-cruise Vernazza.
Vernazza is a picturesque town considered the pearl of the Cinque Terre. Known for its relaxing and light atmosphere. This is the most photographed village in the Cinque Terre, with its natural amphitheatre-shaped port. The first documentation on Vernazza dates back to 1080. In front of the marina there is the square always full of life – the centre of the town. Here is the church of Santa Margherita di Antiochia, built in the thirteenth century.
Legend says that a chest containing the bones of the phalanx of the Saint was found on the seashore. After the discovery, the inhabitants built a church in honour of Santa Margherita di Antiochia in the part of the city called “island”. Later, during a heavy storm, the chest was lost. After some time, the casket was found again, miraculously in the same place where it was found for the first time, by the sea. The residents of the city thought it was a sign of God and decided to build the church dedicated to the Saint in a new place, right on the seashore. The feast of Santa Margherita di Antiochia is held on 20 July. During the day, many stalls crowd the main street and in the evening the party ends with fireworks. In front of the church of Santa Margherita stands the ancient Doria Castle, a symbol of the economic importance of Vernazza in antiquity.
Bastione Belforte was erected in a strategic position, overlooking the open sea and the whole bay. Vernazza is unique in its urban style and represents an agglomeration of pastel-coloured Genoese tower-houses, separated by a main central street and with a winding labyrinth of steep stairs called “harpies” and narrow alleys. Vernazza is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Everywhere in the village we can admire precious architectural elements that testify to the ancient grandeur of this country.
